This production tendency got integrated by General Motors as a marketing strategy to gain market preminence over the toughest competitors: Japanese automotive manufacturers. The first Saturn car designs to hit the market were the S Series that included sedans, wagons and coupes. If compared to the first Saturn car models, present-day Saturn vehicles have changed and improved a lot. Instead of the plastic panels used for the first models, steel is now used for safety purposes, not to mention that it is more convenient. Moreover, any modern Saturn car could bear the the similarity with the European GM models like the Opel. Some users have reproached the loss of the identity and the stylish polishing of European cars, but generally speaking, one cannot overlook or ignore the serious improvements made not only in design but in quality and refinement too.

GM Company, for instance, aimed at lowering the number of Japanese car imports on the American market by designing a similar parallel division: Saturn auto collection. The aesthetic concept and the practical functionality of the very advantageous Japanese cars set the Saturn auto production process in motion, in the effort to win over the public just as much as the imports had done. Positive feedback did result from the Saturn auto lines, and for a period of time Saturn vehicles came on the first place in the sales top of the American market.
However, the market trends were moving too fast to enable a long-enduring success of Saturn auto types. Sophistication leads to more sophistication: this is the rule that rocks in the car business. This only means that car concepts changed, making possible the transition to more surprising designs, with futuristic features. Thus, the optional part became standard in modern cars as we are talking about higher and higher safety and comfort expectations. Briefly, Saturn auto manufacturers had to find a way to reclaim their dominance in the business in order to go from one success to another.
Since 2004, Saturn auto offers grew in variety with the launching of new series by General Motors. Plus, the interest in hybrid car models also entered on an ascending path, given the superior awareness of the environmental decay closely connected to car pollution. There is a chance to drastically limit the toxic emissions not only by the use of hybrid cars, but by car producers investing in less polluting technologies too. Plug in car options are not available for the moment, but in the not so distant future they could allow for vehicle autonomy and the exclusive use of electrical engines or batteries as propelling devices.
Saturn auto options insure a good level of comfort, and the level between convetional and luxurious is well balanced so as to provide a very satisfactory ride. This is the reason why Saturn cars were held in such respect on the market, since they brought the quality that made one feel cozy. Exquisite customer service was the advantage that General Motors had over the other car producers. Maybe they don’t rally to the latest trends in car fashion, but at least they stay focused on the necessities of the average driver. Saturn auto choices are therefore still valid nowadays with options for all pockets providing average to luxurious products.
